I am so glad its weekend, and we are only one week into the new term. Feel like crawling into a hole and sleeping for a week! Gah, and we had teacher-Parent evening on Thursday!!! Oh my goodness - some of those parents are mean!!

I Despise invigilation!

This week there is very little to tell – other than – I hate exam time! Argh! It’s the worst part of the term – so much marking, so little time, and mindless invigilation (where you walk around and do nothing – no reading, drawing, marking - nothing) – Gah! Its mind numbing and literally makes me feel as though I am going mad!!

But anyway here is something I have been doing when I have those very few rare moments between other work. It’s an old piece that was begging me to revamp it. I still see it as incomplete – but thought I would show you how it’s going. Anyway hope you enjoy...

Decided to do a super quick paint, to try a few new things, allow myself to grow and learn... So here is a simple portrait of Agape...

I also then took another look at my old "Storm is Brewing" image and made a few changes. I just couldn't help it - Every time I look at it a hundred things demanded to be altered. And so here it is with changes, hope you like it...

Still Hanging around

Its been a loooong time! Many things have come and gone, happend and passed without happening. You may or may not have noticed - the website is gone - I just needed to pull it down and scrumple it up and start all over again.

I am still ever in seach of that dream job (so if you know anything - swing the info my way ;) plz) where I will be able to draw, illustrate and paint and show what I can do, but in the meantime...

I have been teaching full time as an art teacher to grade 8 to 12s and recently started taking night courses in Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator - to better myself (you can ALWAYS learn more) - that happens three nights a week...

aaaand then I have been holding extra art classes for students for the remaining days of the week after school hours.

Do I have a life - no, not really -

But I am hoping that with the 9 day school vac coming up that I can sneak a few of MY - "me time - yays in"! Um, for those who aren't used to kEda speak - thats drawings, illustrations etc. Things I love to do but dont have time for right now.

Well just to show I have been doing the odd something here and there, here are a few images I reworked to practice and better my painting and colouring skills... ENJOY...

I'm still working on images, but teaching and commissions have kept me away from uploading - so... here I am... I'm still alive... just overworked and underpaid - but who isnt right! :D

Finally!!

My desktop decided to quietly kick the bucket a few weeks ago and as such I have been without a computer for almost a month! But no longer - For I know have a beautiful new one!! Dom dom dom dommmmm!

Computer specs:

Intel Core i7 930 (2.8 GHz)

6Gb Corsair XM3 DDR3 RAM

Asus GeForce 260 GTX (896Mb RAM)

Windows7 x64

Aparently this is a very good lil machine I have now - Go me!!! So I will hopefully be getting on to some new digital images soon and be spending a lot more time on the web.

I promise my next post will include some pretty new pics.

Quick update of Drama!

So I have been running into some major issues lately and my website is one of the biggest! For some reason it is "corrupted or something"!?! So Just be warned - I'm trying to sort it out, but the problem is not on our end, Your computer should automatically block the website and throw up a warning or error message - but better safe than sorry!

So we are awaiting a reply from the hosting peeps to find out what is happening and how long this has been going on! I certainly hope we have not been paying them for nothing! Will keep you updated as I know what is going on! This really make me sooo... Ergh!!!!

Short Update

Yay the website is almost ready to be replaced and unveiled! So excited!!! I hope you all like it - or at least prefer it to the old one! www.kgomes.co.za Will Hopefully be able to give you the good news of the unveiling in the next couple of days.

In the meantime Reckless-buddah has been super busy, hard at work and having loads of fun. October was a month of invention, exploration, and some darn good stuff if I do say so myself! Just take a look at some of these new images...

Been absent for a while - just so much going on!

Ooooh! I hope you checked out the online mag "Picture this" by One Small Seed (with my pic in the first issue), because I have been approached by another online mag (Audrey²) - likes my work and wants to feature some of my photos. Well for the last month or so I have been market hopping selling T-shirts, displaying some of my wacky lil' toons on them, as well as a few accessories (earrings and badges).

I've also been organizing to get some of it in boutiques - one in particular, P'ayeya, is coming along nicely, and will be opening soon.

some of the T-shirts you will find being sold - hopefully i will have some actual fashion designes coming out of the woodwork - just so much to do, and so little time! :D

On the fine-art side of my life, I've been trying to get some of my work displayed in exhibitions and galleries.
Just recently exhibited with 9 other artists at a new gallery called "A Happy Place" (Studio 707, 4 Loop st), our work will be up until the end of this month, so please go check it out and support South African artists. All the work displayed is for sale!

Lino Prints - many are mono lino prints and cant be produced again (R150 for the large ones and R50 for the small ones)

Inbetween all of this I am still searching for a job and commissions - hint hint!!

I've also finished the set of flower paintings I was working on and am now 3 painings into my next set - which has turned out to be portraits of very sad girls, who sort of dissolve into and out of the backgrounds. I'll hopefully have some images of them shortly.

But I already have my next 3 sets/series in mind and am planning them in every spare moment (which isnt much, but sleep is over rated :D)!

So 'Yeah', who ever said being self-employed or working freelance is easier was sorely mistaken! You have to work twice as hard to do all the work on your own, as well as all your own marketing and advertising!
But its a great experience, has taught me a lot, brought me to some interesting places and helped me meet some wonderfull people!
